Four Qualities of a GREAT Leader

Updated: Jun 13, 2024

"A brave leader is someone who says I see you. I hear you. I don’t have all the answers, but I’m going to keep listening and asking questions." - Brené Brown ✨

Leadership, like any other skill, is a talent which can be learned and developed with time and practice. There are, however, several attributes that the most effective leaders embody.

Here are my top 4:

1️⃣ Empathy: The ability to understand and respond to the needs and views of others is the cornerstone of effective leadership.

2️⃣ Boldness: To lead effectively, means to define and share a clear vision, make considered and decisive decisions, inspire an environment of action and ownership (by living it) and create clarity, not confusion.

2️⃣ Curiosity: By listening and understanding before responding, leaders who embrace curiosity create an environment where employees feel safe to explore new ideas, take risks, challenge the status quo and constantly grow.

4️⃣ Collaboration: Effective leaders foster a culture of teamwork and inclusivity. They empower teams to speak up, encourage open and honest discussion, focus on effective conflict resolution, leverage individual strengths and broaden networks.

Dedicating time to identify and qualify these traits during your leadership hiring process will greatly impact employee engagement, productivity and retention for the long haul.
