Hi, I'm Amy,
After a successful career as a Talent Acquisition professional working internally in large global corporates, start-ups and scale-ups across multiple industries, I leapt into the freelance World in late 2023!
I love hiring! Changing people's opinions on the traditional perception of a "recruiter" motivates me to do my absolute best work.
Matching talented candidates with values driven organisations gets me out of bed every morning. I truly believe that there is an art to hiring well, by understanding and connecting with people while remaining constantly curious about the long term goals and culture of a business.
I'm your extra pair of hands, eyes and ears when you know you need hiring assistance but don't have the resources, time or expertise internally, or the budgets for a niche recruiter.
Agency recruiters absolutely have their place, and if the role is completely out of my scope, I will let you know. I am all about honesty, transparency and efficiency.
A few fun facts about me:
🐶 I am a part-time professional dog sitter! Life is way too short to spend less than 50% of it with fluffy friends.
🐳 Last year I fulfilled a bucket list goal of seeing Orcas in the wild!
✈️ I was in an emergency plane landing and spent 24 hours stranded on a remote pacific island!
From corporate recruiter to helping small businesses grow
Throughout my career in Talent Acquisition, I regularly experienced the disruption that fluctuating resource requirements had on productivity, decision making and team morale. Working within businesses of different scales, geographies, industries and stages, it was always clear that a consistent, transparent, collaborative and human approach to hiring was transformative for hiring managers, leaders, candidates and overall businesses as a whole.
I moved home to the UK in mid 2023 after 8 years in Australia & New Zealand. Powered by the ambition and passion to empower more businesses to execute a great hiring experience and land their dream employees, The Surrey Co was born and I couldn't be happier.
I am thrilled to offer a fresh approach to hiring support for businesses who know the importance of attracting and hiring great people, but who don't have the luxury of an internal talent team, or need an extra pair of hands.
Hiring isn't an exact science. An effective process requires collaboration, reflection, organisation and a good dose of conscious gut feel. These are skills I've developed over a career spanning corporate, start-up and scale up businesses and I'm so excited to support more forward thinking organisations transform their hiring experience and find the matches that will make a difference for the long-term.
I've been fortunate to work as a generalist across tech, manufacturing, construction, public relations, real estate, retail and financial services industries. I've hired heavily across sales, customer service, marketing, finance, HR, software development, product and operations (to name a few). This has given me a unique perspective, broad understanding of different business strategies and cultures, and the ability to context switch quickly and effectively.
I've hired successfully in a way that feels authentic and effective. I'll help you tailor your hiring to build great teams that suit your business, without the overwhelm and confusion.
